Greece ranked 31st in the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI Issue 54) published by Ernst & Young in 2019. Greece is dedicated in promoting and supporting renewables.

    Combined Heat and Power (CHP), also known as cogeneration, is the most versatile energy form applications and the one with widest applications. CHP can be used in commercial and residential buildings, production plants, hotels, hospitals and agriculture farms. Cogeneration is applicable for the concurrent production of electricity or mechanical power and thermal energy (heating and/or cooling) from a single source of energy. It can use a variety of fuels, both fossil (i.e. natural gas, coal, oil) - and renewable-based (i.e. waste, pellet, biomass, solar thermal, geothermal, hydrogen). The profitability of the investment is such that dramatically reduces the set-up cost and eliminates the payback period.

    The most auspicious alternative form of energy!

    Biomass energy production is one of the pillars of the circular economy. The total installed capacity in the Greek interconnected system at the end of 2016 amounted to 67.1 MW. The electricity produced from biomass is much cheaper than that produced by conventional energy sources.

    Although Greece has huge reserves of urban, forestry and agricultural residues, is in Europe's last places in the production of biomass energy. This form of renewable energy source can meet the needs of heating-cooling and/or electricity in agriculture and production. It presents significant interest as biomass energy can be implemented in urban and rural level throughout the country. In large, the critical success factor of the investment is the selection of the land for constructing the energy plant. FGRID has licensed biomass projects with a total capacity of 2.5 MW so it has the experience and expertise to help you meet the regulatory requirements and obtain the permit in a timely manner.

    FGRID will guide you to select the best location based on the type of biomass source and guarantee the highest performance. The highest efficiencies are produced by the conversion of biomass into biogas or biodiesel and its utilization independently of Public Power Corporation (PPC).


    The most promising Alternative Energy Source!

    Biogas is a mixture of methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and hydrogen sulphite, the major constituents being methane. Today in Greece, a total of 56 biogas power plants are licensed, with a total capacity of 168.2 MW. Furthermore, eleven biogas power plants have obtained commercial license with a total capacity of 35,1MW. It is the production of energy from the anaerobic digestion of mainly agriculture waste (sewage from farms, cowsheds or waste from biological purification plants), industrial waste and sewage, as well as from urban organic waste (Landfill). Biogas power plants produce cheaper energy because the raw material has zero or negative value, while its products have an undeniable commercial value. It applies to small agriculture farms but to large biological treatment installations as well. A biogas power plant other than energy production is a way out in the overall treatment of waste from the agriculture activity that produces it, significantly reducing environmental pollution.

    FGRID can license the installation of a biogas power plant but can properly assess the criteria of the site based on the livestock farming unit and guarantee the granting of the license. In addition, we can store biogas and exploit it on behalf of the investor outside the PPC, maximizing the profits of the investment.
